In this course, teachers will learn about the important emergent literacy skills of phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge, and concepts of print, also known as print awareness and will be introduced to instructional routines they can use to teach these vital skills.

By the End of This Course Youʹll Be Able To

Learners will be familiar with gradual release, a three-part teaching method where you are gradually releasing the responsibility of learning from the teacher to the child, and will understand when to implement learning routines in their classroom.Learners will be familiar with all the components of Phonological Sensitivity and PAC Skills: Phonemic Awareness, Alphabet Knowledge, and Concepts of Print/Print Awareness.Learners will understand how to assess and monitor children's progress of PAC skills, how to give feedback during instructional routines, and how to differentiate instruction and support for dual language learners.
